He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” [Psalm 105:14-15]
When God enters a covenant with Israel, promising them that He will protect them all the way, He meant it. When God says that He will never leave you, He won't, at all, regardless of whether you feel Him there or not.
