He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. [Romans 4:25]

The word 'for' in Greek is 'on account of'. In other words, Jesus died on account of our sins and resurrected on account of our justification.

Today, you can be fully assured that you are righteous in God's eyes, because in order for Jesus to be raised from the dead, you must be righteous. And Jesus rose, which is heaven's divine receipt that your sins are punished and that you are righteous! The best part? You didn't earn this righteousness! That's God's unmerited favour upon you!
