Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; [1 Peter 1:13]
Reading the context of this verse tells us how to refrain from sin: by hoping in Jesus. What is hope? Confident expectation of good. Keep on keeping on having a confident expectation in Jesus for your good. Jesus wants you at your best and will strengthen you for your good! That is how we refrain from former lusts (1:14) and be holy, just as God is holy (1:16)
