This commander is a picture of Jesus! It means that whatever battle or situation coming your way, rest assured, because JESUS HIMSELF has control of your situation.
"Will it, then, turn in my favour?"
I don't know. What I do know is that when Jesus is in charge, everything will bring God glory. Joshua's people in the context of the verse triumphed over Jericho, but not without 7 testing days of marching.
My encouragement to you is this: trust your situation to Jesus if you want to see Jesus glorified in it!
